I was given the opportunity to try 3 bottles of Flipflop wines; Pinot Grigio, Pinot Noir & Riesling. I was sold on the brand from the moment I saw their label. I could just picture myself sitting in the backyard with my flip-flops on, drinking a glass of wine while the kids played with the dog. It’s such a nice picture…
My experience with flipflop wines was surprising and went against everything I would have expected from wine. When I drink wine, I tend to lean towards a Pinot Grigio over all other varieties. So naturally, when my bottles of flipflop wine arrived, I opened the Pinot Grigio first. While I liked the wine, it actually wasn’t my favorite. This was my first surprise.
I took the flipflop Riesling over to a dinner party a week later. I absolutely loved the Riesling! This was a complete shock to me since I don’t usually favor Riesling. I’ll definitely be purchasing the flipflop Riesling again.
The biggest surprise of all? I liked the Pinot Noir! In fact, I actually finished the entire glass. It’s much sweeter than other Pinot Noir’s I’ve tried, so that may be the difference. Typically, I only drink red wine if it’s being served as part of a meal and I never finish my glass. It’s nice to finally have a bottle of red that I like!
More about the wines:
- Pinot Noir is medium-bodied, structured Pinot Noir with bright cherry, sweet spice and a supple, velvety finish. It is full of cola aromas and hints of vanilla.
- Riesling is a medium-bodied, Riesling with peach, apricot and melon which lead to a satisfying, smooth finish. It is full of tropical notes and sweet aromas.
- Pinot Grigio is a light-bodied, refreshing Pinot Grigio with tropical citrus, ripe pear and a zesty, clean finish. It is full of balanced crisp acidity.
One feature about flipflop wines that I think everyone should be aware of is that for every bottle of flipflop wine purchased, Soles4Souls will distribute a pair of shoes to someone in need. Up to 100,000 will be pairs in the first year. That will make a significant impact on people in need.
The suggested retail price is $7; however, I often see it on sale at my local stores for only $5. This budget friendly wine will not only benefit your wallet but Soles4Souls as well!
I thought this quote summed up flipflop wines flavor and personality; “We like to make seriously good wines, but not take ourselves too seriously in the process…” David Georges, Vintner.

This is a great review!!! I didn’t know about the Soles4Souls. That’s fantastic and makes me want to go buy a whole case. I just recently discovered flipflop wine when it was on sale for $5 at Farm Fresh. I love the Moscato. I also had the Riesling last night and loved that as well. This is definitely my new “go to” wine. Haven’t tried the red yet, but we have a bottle of the cabernet downstairs and will probably try it out this weekend. Now, if we could just get them to give us coupons for the wine…… 🙂
