Walmart has a new coupon policy! Sorry for the delay in posting about this! I just realized it was still sitting in a draft.
Changes to be aware of:
- “Coupons may exceed the price of the item. Change may be given or applied toward the cost of the basket purchase.”
- Accept “Competitors’ coupons that feature a specific item for a specified price, for example $2.99.” These are not $ off coupons, but a coupon that states that the item costs certain amount. Walgreens weekly ad has a ton of these coupons.
Hopefully this will make your shopping trips a bit easier since the new policy clarifies a few things. Make sure to print a copy of the coupon policy and take it with you shopping!

Thanks for the new policy post. I’ve always been frugal but I’m very new to couponing the way the pros do it. I was totally upset this month when I tried to get this deal on cocacola products. Walmart used to accept expired coupons up to 1week after they expired. However, all of that changed as of July 1st. I tried to get 30 12packs of drinks for $1 each using a Farm Fresh sale paper (5 for $10) and coupons ($2 off of 2). I couldn’t use any of my coupons which had expired 4days before (I had to wait until they were on sale and I had they money to go shopping). So I ended up drinkless and embarrassed… Oh well, better luck next time.

Hi Dana,
Thanks for showing me all the update news. I am fairly new at using the couponing. I am a bit confuse about what you mentioned, “You should now be able to use Walgreens Register Rewards (these are “Catalina” manufacturer coupons)” What does it mean?
Does Walgreens now has a register rewards card kind of like Food Lion or Farm Fresh? Or it’s something extra that I have to do to get that? What does Catalina mean? Where do I get them? Please help. Thank you.

Thanks for reminding me. Walmart changed the wording on the policy, so Register Rewards coupon not be used. It is only coupons for money off a specific item now.
A Catalina is a coupon that prints from a machine next to the register called a Catalina machine.
In terms of Walgreens, what prints from their Catalina Machine is Register Rewards which gives you a certain amount to spend in the store. This posts should help with Walgreens: https://www.thecouponchallenge.com/2010/02/getting-started-part-2-walgreens.html
Let me know if I didn’t answer your questions

Ever time i try to use the 2 off Schick razor for the 1.97 razor the coupon does not scan says item not found and the register person does not want to accept it. Any advice or anyone else have this issue?
Dana says
If it doesn’t scan they may not take it. When I’ve used that coupon, they need to use the hand scanner to get it to scan.
