This is a meal that my mother-in-law makes. I think it is a frugal dish because I always (okay, almost always) have these ingredients on hand.
The Farm Fresh 03/16 weekly ad has Perdue Boneless Skinless Chicken breasts on sale for $1.99lb. I typically purchase the bone-in, skin-on thighs because it is significantly cheaper and it only takes a few minutes to remove the skin. There is something to be said for convenience though!

Could you do this recipe in the crockpot? I would love to try this, it sounds delicious. My kids are both playing softball and we are home late just about every night. Thanks.

I’m sure it would do well in the crockpot. The thighs don’t take long to cook, so I’d make sure it was on low and only for a couple hours. You’ll have to monitor the cooking time.

Thank you so much. I will be fixin this this week. I love the fact that I have everything but the chicken thighs in the house already. 🙂

I like to get the thighs when I find them reduced or on special at the store. Skin- on is usually cheaper then I remove the skin myself.
Enjoy!
