Hey Hampton Roads locals, here is another press release for the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition build that started in our area
“Extreme March to Make A Difference” is Your Time to
See Build Site and Production Operation
Price of Admission to Thursday Afternoon Event, Sponsored by Rose & Womble Realty, is Purchase of an Official T-Shirt to Support Build Fund
(January 31, 2011) Want to make sure Beverly Hill, Fred Burdette and their six adopted daughters have a quality new home, with space to run their operation to feed and clothe the homeless? And to see that house go up at the same time?
The opportunity to do so is Thursday, February 3 from 3-5 p.m. Team Trademark, the Build Team for the project, is inviting the community to:
- come to the parking lot of Lynnhaven Mall behind the AMC Theaters
- bring non-perishable food for the Extreme Food Drive
- donate $20 to purchase an official Extreme Makeover: Home Edition Hampton Roads Build t-shirt ($15 for extra small children’s sizes)
- be in a large group picture
- walk in columns across Lynnhaven Road, then up Gentry Road past the home site, and finally around the block, past a dozen or more production trucks and back to the Mall. Virginia Beach police and other law enforcement personnel will provide security and crowd control.
Proceeds from “The Extreme March to Make a Difference” will support the critical Build Fund, which pays for those construction items that are not donated. All participants must have an official t-shirt, which can be purchased that day in the parking lot, previously at the Pep Rally on January 20 or from one of the designated retailers (1st Down Sports at Military Circle and Lynnhaven Mall, Beach Treats at Peninsula Town Center in Hampton and any location of Union First Market Bank on the Peninsula).
An Extreme Makeover celebrity designer will greet all guests at the Mall site and explain what they will see on the tour. Personalities from radio stations 2WD, The Point, Z-104, 95.7R&B and Freedom 1650 will participate as well as cheerleaders and the band from Old Dominion University.
“So many of the people who went on our website to volunteer will not be able to do so because of the large volume of requests, but we wanted to give them and others in the community the opportunity to be part of this incredible experience,” says Duane Cotton, Vice President of Trademark Construction, lead builder on the project. “The Extreme March will allow them to see the house under construction, learn how the show is produced and make a small but important financial contribution toward the project. And it will be a lot of fun at the same time.”
“We are so pleased that Rose and Womble has stepped up to be a main sponsor,” says Joel Rubin, President of Rubin Communications Group, which is coordinating the special event. “The Extreme Makeover production team will very likely be recording the March so there is a chance you will see yourself on national TV when the show airs in several weeks. And certainly it will be covered by local media so bring your wallets, pocketbooks, your patience and your smile, and be part of something really big.”
Thanks, Mom on Dealz!
