I’m sad, all the Act II popcorn’s were gone! My cashier said someone came in last night and bought almost every box off the shelf. That’s all I have to say about that.

The bread is from Food Lion where I had to use a $1.50 CAT. I picked up a loaf of bread for $0.44.

I got brown rice, the all and bleach, salsa, hunts tomatoes, wheat thins, veggie booty, and then I still had $10 to spend so I got bread, milk, tofu, carrots and apples. the total after sales but before coupons was $42 and after coupons was $15 (and some change)

I ran to walgreens too–forgot to mention. two free creamers, free men's body wash (yay! not sold out) and it gave me the 50 cent overage so I grabbed two women's body washes and they came out to 75 cents each (the large bottles) not bad!

Ok..I know I'm probaby asking a "crazy" question (I'm still learning about these coupons)…but when & where do you buy your meats….like "real" meat & produce, not bagged/frozen . I've tried every week & I always seem to spend around $50-75. I am saving a lot (around $50-60/week) but these totals do include meat (on sale), produce (on sale), school lunch items & of course 2 gal. of milk. I wish I could get my grocery total around $40 per week…ugh. We are a family of 5 (2 teen boys & 1 toddler boy)…Is this possible to do & still eat a few meats & produce?

How did your Walgreens do the coffeemate? mine would not accept the second coupon (they said they could not give cash back from a coupon…policy or something). We tried adding a 39 cent candy to bump up the price to over $3 before tax and it still didn't work. She scanned both creamers and then both coupons, does it have to do with the order of scanning? I was frustrated. :\

Carsmall–true, produce and meat can be tricky. FF and HT were, for a while, doing sales every 6 weeks or so on chicken where, for example, you would buy 2 packs and get 3 free so alot of us stocked up big during those times. we're not red meat eaters here so that worked well for us. Produce-look for sales like the ones at FF this week, see if individual fruit or the bagged will be cheaper and don't forget local farmers. I was scoring $1 cantaloupes from my local farmer this summer! Also, FF often runs deals that say "Buy $25 worth of participating items and get $10 back for your next visit". I do those and use the money back on produce, milk and meat. I did this last week–earned $10 and spent it this week on milk, bread, produce and tofu (I have a vegetarian daughter). Gotta look at this way-you won't be able to get every single thing for dirt cheap or free. Simply save where you can and it'll help overall.

Great shopping trips Stace and thanks for answering Carsmall's question!
Amanda: I had to get an overide for the creamer coupons and nivea. According to the coupon policy you can use 2 coupons on B1G1 as long as it doesn't exceed the value. I would think that it should the follow the policy of adjusting the coupon down. My nivea was adjusted down but both creamer coupons were accepted at full value. I bought the arizona's so my total was able to handle the overage.
Issues can arise based on the manager of each store. It looks like Staces was accepted at full value as well.

Carsmall: I agree with Stace's points. I think this would be a great series?
Stock up when there is a good price. I was buying 6-9+ packs of chicken at a time during the B1G2 sales. I bought the value pack of HT chicken a couple weeks ago for around $3.30 – 6 pieces and split into 3 meals. I also grabbed marked down pork chops at HT.
I love the commissary for meat. Reasonable prices daily. I don't get to go often though.
I may go for 2 months without needing to buy meat, so I may come way under my $300 budget then spend the $300 when I stock up.
Once your stockpile is established you should notice you have to buy less.
Don't think of meat as the main dish. I've been using less chicken than is called for in pastas and casserole.
Yes, buy produce on sale and local farmers are great or grow your own and freeze.
$50-$75 a week is good for family of 5, espcially with 2 teenage boys! They'll eat you out of house and home 🙂
Take your time and eventually you may hit your goal.
I'm sure this comment is full of spelling errors, sorry!

thank you ladies…i'm getting there!
It's also tough b/c I live in a rural area & so going shopping isn't always convenient…for one, I dont have several stores to choose from & second, the nearest stores are about 30 miles away & so I try to plan my weekly trip to get everything in one day, which sometimes is overwhelming.
I also just started couponing so I've switched to FF…I also like to buy my meats there b/c I've heard from a very reliable source that they are one (family member is in upper mgmt), if not the only, grocery store that doesn't add the red dye to its meats…not sure about Harris Teeter b/c the closest one is like 50 miles away 🙁
For now, I'll keep striving to hit $50 per week…even if I only hit it once a month!
Thanks again for your encouraging words!
